Nancy McAleer, a Baltimore artist, works primarily in watercolors.
She is transfixed by the medium’s transparency and unpredictability. “There’s so much you can’t control: it’s flowing and alive! I’m constantly being surprised by beauty. The way the colors run and bleed together is so fascinating.” Her paintings often evoke  feelings of serenity and peacefulness.

In addition to her work as an artist, she is also an accomplished musician on flute and guitar. Her art, like her music, is an expression of an inner creative energy that she associates with Spirituality/God/Creator. “Both music and  art put me in that “other place”, where I feel connected to God’s presence and to the world. Music puts me “there” more quickly and easily, but it is also more fleeting, whereas painting is more lasting and permanent.”

Nancy is the music director at Faith Community United Methodist Church. Her artwork is displayed at various shows, galleries and commercial venues around the region and in New England. She holds degress from both the University of Michigan and Johns Hopkins University.
